Samyang releases 85mm f/1.8 lens without autofocus for mirrorless cameras
Samyang releases an 85mm f/1.8 lens for mirrorless cameras. As with many other lenses from the brand, the new one does not have autofocus. From the beginning of September, the 85 mm f/1.8 will be for sale for a suggested retail price of 379 euros.
The optical design of the Samyang MF 85mm f/1.8 consists of nine lens elements in seven groups and the diaphragm has nine blades. The lenses are finished with a so-called Ultra Multi Coating and the manufacturer has also added an Extra-low Dispersion element.
The bright lens is released in versions for cameras with a Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon M lens mount. These cameras have an aps-c sensor, but the lens is also available for Olympus and Panasonic cameras with a micro four thirds mount. The 85mm f/1.8 is not suitable for system cameras with a full-frame sensor.
The minimum focus distance is 65 centimeters. Including the lens hood, the lens weighs an average of 412 grams; the weight differs slightly per version. Filters with a diameter of 62 mm fit on it and without the lens hood the lens is about 8 cm long.
Transcontinenta, the importer of Samyang in the Benelux, says that the 85mm f/1.8 lens will be available from the beginning of September for a suggested retail price of 379 euros.
