Samyang releases 14mm f/2.8 autofocus lens for Nikon DSLRs
Samyang has announced a 14mm f/2.8 lens for Nikon’s F mount. It is the first Samyang lens for Nikon DSLRs to feature autofocus. From the beginning of September, the 14 mm f/2.8 will be for sale for a suggested retail price of 790 euros.
The optical design of the Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 F consists of fifteen elements in ten groups and the diaphragm has seven blades. As with the 14mm f.2.8 for Canon’s EF mount, the autofocus system can be turned on or off with a button on the lens.
The focal length of 14mm leads to an angle of view of 116.6 degrees. Samyang uses two aspherical elements and an Extra-low Dispersion element. The minimum focus distance is 20 centimeters and the lens is sealed against dust and moisture.
The lens weighs 523 grams including the lens hood. The length of the Samyangs new 14mm f2.8 is 93.1mm and the maximum diameter is 90.5mm. The manufacturer reports that no filter can be placed on the lens.
Transcontinenta, the importer of Samyang in the Benelux, says that the 14 mm f/2.8 lens will be available from the beginning of September for a suggested retail price of 790 euros.
