Samyang releases 12mm f/2 autofocus lens for Fujifilm X cameras
Samyang releases its first autofocus lens for Fujifilm cameras. It is a 12mm f/2 lens for cameras with an APS-C sensor and Fujifilm X mount. The lens is otherwise the same as the previously released version for Sony cameras.
Samyang already made lenses with the Fujifilm X mount, but until now these were manual focus ones. The autofocus of the new Samyang AF 12mm F2 X lens is optimized for the X-Trans sensor in Fujifilm cameras, according to the manufacturer.
On its site, the lens manufacturer publishes a list of Fujifilm cameras on which operation is guaranteed. That concerns the complete line-up of recent cameras from the brand. Only the new X-T30 II is not explicitly mentioned; the X-T30 does.
The optical design of the 12mm F2 X is similar to the Samyang AF 12mm F2 E for Sony cameras, with twelve lens elements in ten groups and a seven-blade diaphragm. The lens is 59.2 mm long and has a diameter of 70 mm. The weight is 212 grams and there is a filter thread of 62mm on the front.
According to importer Transcontinenta, the 12mm F2 X lens will be on sale from November for a suggested retail price of 470 euros. Recently, Samyang also presented its first zoom lens with autofocus. That is a 24-70 mm f/2.8 model for Sony E cameras.
