Samyang announces two autofocus lenses for Sony FE cameras
The South Korean lens manufacturer Samyang has announced its first lenses with autofocus. It is a 14mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.4 with a Sony FE mount. The lenses are suitable for the cameras in the Sony A7 series with a full-frame sensor.
In recent years, Samyang has made a name for itself with lenses that often offer a good price-performance ratio. Until now, however, it has always been glassware that only has manual focus. With the introduction of the 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC and 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC, that will change. The ultra-wide angle and standard lens can be used on all Sony E-mount cameras and optimized for the full-frame A7 series models, says Samyang.
The 50mm lens has a 67mm filter thread. The 14mm has a convex lens element and integrated lens hood. Samyang has not yet announced all specifications and does not provide further information about the autofocus technique used. The manufacturer does say that the autofocus works with both phase detection and contrast detection.
According to Transcontinenta, importer of Samyang in the Benelux, the lenses will be available ‘limited’ from July. Recommended retail prices have not yet been announced.
