Samsung will stop regular security updates for most S10 phones

The Samsung Galaxy A50, S10, S10+ and S10e no longer receive a security update every quarter. The support period for these phones has ended after four years. In exceptional cases, the devices may still receive security updates.

In addition to stopping regular security updates for certain devices, Samsung also announced that the Galaxy Z Flip will now only receive security updates every quarter, instead of monthly. The A72 now receives a security update twice a year. This used to be every quarter.

Samsung’s smartphones used to receive security updates for three years, although in practice top models received an extra year of support. Early last year, Samsung expanded this policy; Since then, phones have received up to four Android upgrades and five years of security updates.
