Samsung will release Remote Access for smart TVs in 2019
Samsung has announced Remote Access for its smart TVs. The feature allows users to access Samsung software-enabled devices such as PCs, laptops and smartphones through their smart TVs. The feature will be released in the course of 2019.
Samsung reports that Remote Access works via the IP network, a WiFi connection and web browsers. This also allows users to access Samsung’s own cloud environment via their smart TV. To use the feature for the PC or the Samsung Cloud, the user needs a mouse and keyboard.
Remote Access uses VMware Horizon, a desktop virtualization program created by VMware and Samsung. This makes it easier for the user to navigate through the TV in his desktop. The feature integrates with Samsung’s Knox security software, which has been in every Samsung smart TV since 2015.
It is not yet known when Remote Access will be released. In addition, it is not yet clear whether the feature is also available for all smart TVs from the Samsung or whether it will be released in phases per series.
