Samsung will release its first 8k consumer TVs in early October

Samsung will release its first 8k consumer TVs in early October. The cheapest version in the TV line has a screen diagonal of 65 “and has a suggested retail price of 4999 euros. It is an LCD TV.

Because there is still little image material available in 8k resolution, Samsung says it has added a Quantum Processor 8K, which aims to upscale images from all inputs to 8k resolution. The TV could show in 8k, among other things, images from streaming, USB, HDMI and set-top box.

The TV has support for HDR10+ and Samsung claims a maximum peak brightness of 4000cd/m2. The televisions also feature Direct Full Array Elite that must adjust the backlight to improve contrast. Samsung makes no claims about the contrast ratio of the televisions.

Samsung places the Q900R TVs in its Qled line of high-end LCD TVs. There will be models of 65″, 75″ and 85″. They cost respectively 4999 euros, 6999 euros and 14,999 euros. There is also an 82″ variant, but it will not be released in the Benelux. All three new TVs should be released in the Benelux at the beginning of October. It is not about the first 8k TVs for sale in Europe. For example, Sharp has already released an 8k TV.
