Samsung will release Galaxy S20 Fan Edition at the beginning of October from 649 euros

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, a cheaper model in the S20 range. The device will cost 649 euros and will be available from October 2. The phone will have a 120Hz screen and a 4500mAh battery. The more expensive 5G version has a Snapdragon soc.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition features a 6.5 “OLED display and comes with support for 4G and 5G. The version with 4G features the Exynos 990-soc, a 7nm octacore that is also found in the other S20 models. for the European market, but the 5G version of the Fan Edition phone will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as soc.

Compared to the regular S20, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition has a lower screen resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and an optical fingerprint scanner instead of an ultrasonic variant. Furthermore, the S20 has a curved screen, which the Fan Edition does not have; this new device also has flat rounded edges.

The front camera of the new phone has a much higher resolution at 32 megapixels, but has no autofocus. The telecamera on the back has a sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels, whereas the S20 has 64 megapixels. That means that there is no possibility to make 8k video recordings, but 4k recordings are possible. The phone will be marketed with ’30x Space Zoom’, whereby it is possible in the software to zoom in 30x digitally.

The new smartphone will be available worldwide with 6 or 8GB, but it seems that the phones in the Benelux only come out with 6GB. The 4G version of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition costs 649 or 719 euros and the 5G version has prices of 749 and 819 euros, with 128 or 256 GB storage memory available depending on the price.
