Samsung will not hold an introduction event for the Galaxy S8 smartphone during the Mobile World Congress, the telecom fair that starts in Barcelona at the end of February. This has been confirmed by the CEO of the mobile division of the group.

When the introduction of the Galaxy S8 is to be expected, Samsung Mobile CEO Koh Dong-jin did not announce to Reuters. At the end of last year, there were rumors that Samsung would like to introduce the Galaxy S8 later in the year than in previous years. The company would consider doing this in April.

The Samsung S7, S6 and S5 were announced at or around the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in recent years, but the introduction of the smartphone did not always fall during the telecom fair. The Galaxy S4 was unveiled in mid-March 2013, and the Galaxy S III announced the Korean company in early May 2012.

The Galaxy S8 will be the first high-end smartphone to be released by Samsung since the fiasco of the recalled Note 7. Samsung announced the conclusions of the investigation into the explosion of the batteries of that smartphone on Monday.
