Samsung website briefly reported Galaxy Watch
The American website of Samsung briefly reported a Galaxy Watch, with which the company seems to confirm previous rumors that it is abandoning its Gear designation for watches.
The addition to the Samsung website was noticed by a Twitter user, who shared her discovery with Cnet. The site writes that there was indeed a link to a product page that was not yet active. There, Samsung showed a photo of a pink watch under the designation Galaxy Watch, along with a short description. It is a 42mm bluetooth model. Cnet suggests that the model is one of the upcoming variants.
The new designation came up several times in rumors that Samsung would rename its Gear line of watches to the Galaxy designation, which is normally reserved for phones and tablets. There were also rumors about a possible change of the OS from Tizen to Wear OS, although SamMobile recently stated based on its own sources that the upcoming models will simply run on Tizen 4.
Samsung is holding an event on August 9, where it will likely announce the Note 9. It is possible that it will present new watches at the same time.
