Samsung wants progressive web apps in Galaxy Store
Samsung wants web developers to put progressive web apps in the Galaxy Store. The manufacturer has made a call for this. The specific part of the Galaxy Store with web apps can only be seen in the United States for the time being.
Users in other countries will be able to download web apps from the Galaxy Store at a later date, Samsung says. Developers of PWAs can send an email to Samsung to give their permission to have the web app included, after which they must sign license agreements. This is necessary for, among other things, the use of the logo in the Store.
Samsung probably wants to fill its Galaxy Store more thanks to progressive web apps. They are not yet available in the Play Store. The Galaxy Store is Samsung’s download store for Android devices. Owners of Samsung devices must use them, among other things, to update Samsung’s own apps.
It is still unknown when users in the rest of the world will be able to find pwas in the Galaxy Store. Pwas can also be placed from the browser on a phone or tablet. Thanks to a progressive web app, a website can, among other things, send push notifications, store data on the device so that users can read offline and give access to the location of the device.
