Samsung unveils gaming laptop with RTX 2080 and G-Sync support
Samsung unveiled the Notebook Odyssey at CES in Las Vegas. This is a gaming laptop that has an Nvidia RTX 2080 video card. G-Sync is also supported, which should prevent tearing and stuttering.
Samsung reports that the Notebook Odyssey has a 15.6″ screen with a 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The manufacturer does not say between which frame rates G-Sync is supported. The laptop also contains an undisclosed Intel Core i7 as CPU, which Samsung claims is an eighth-generation hexacore, the Notebook Odyssey features redesigned Jet Blade fans, assisted by a redesigned cooling system with five heatpipes.
Furthermore, the Notebook Odyssey has 16GB of ram on board, a 256GB NVME SSD or a HDD with a capacity of 1TB. For WiFi, the laptop has an 802.11ac chip with support for 2×2 MiMo and there are stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. The laptop has a USB-C connection, three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI connection and an Ethernet cable that also fits in the laptop. Samsung’s Notebook Odyssey weighs 2.4 kg, has a 54Wh battery and is made of aluminum.
It is still unknown how much the laptop will cost. Samsung says the Notebook Odyssey will launch in the US in early 2019, followed by South Korea, China and certain other regions. It is unknown whether the device will also be released in the Benelux.
