Samsung to open Bixby to developers soon
It looks like Samsung plans to give developers quick access to Bixby, making it easier to integrate the voice and information service into third-party apps. Samsung follows competitors Google and Amazon.
That reports the usually well-established The Wall Street Journal, based on sources. According to the business paper, Samsung plans to make the official announcement next week at its developer conference, which it is hosting in San Francisco. Bixby should then be fully open to developers, making it easier to create features for the voice and information service, or integrate them into applications.
With the suspected plans, which Samsung has not yet confirmed, Samsung follows competitors Google and Amazon, who already offer developers the opportunity to get started with the software with Assistant and Alexa, respectively.
Samsung would also like to announce new functionality for Bixby during the developer conference. For the time being, the service has only a limited popularity; critics argue that the software works less well than competitors Google, Amazon and Apple. Samsung is also struggling to find developers for its ongoing developer program, which is currently in beta.
