Samsung is going to pull the plug on S Voice, the company has announced. S Voice was Samsung’s first voice assistant, but has not been further developed after the release of its successor Bixby.

The end of support for S Voice has not been widely announced. SamMobile discovered that a notification has been placed on the Samsung India website that indicates that S Voice will probably no longer function as of June 1. According to the manufacturer, users will see an error message if they try to activate S Voice after that date.

Samsung has put on its website a list of smartphones and wearables that will be affected by the discontinuation of S Voice. The Korean manufacturer recommends that users upgrade to Bixby whenever possible. Smartwatches like the Gear S3 and Gear Sport will get an update to Bixby once S Voice is discontinued.

Today, Samsung only uses its voice assistant Bixby for devices. This does not only concern smartphones, but also smart speakers and televisions. To encourage the use of the voice assistant, some smartphones even had a special Bixby button, but the company came under a lot of criticism.
