Samsung has shown a speaker called Home Mini on a South Korean page. The speaker has already been seen at various inspections, but it is the first time that the manufacturer confirms the existence of the smaller smart speaker.

South Koreans can test the Home Mini speaker before release, according to the page that TizenHelp came across. The test makes it clear that Samsung plans to release the Home Mini in the near future. It’s a smaller version of the Samsung Home, a speaker that the South Korean manufacturer announced more than a year ago and still hasn’t released. The release has been delayed several times.

Samsung wants to run its own digital assistant Bixby on the smart speakers. Other makers of digital assistants have also almost all released smart speakers: Amazon has its Echo devices, Google the Home series of speakers, and Apple released the Homepod last year. In addition to the digital assistant, the speakers also integrate with Samsung’s smart home platform SmartThings.

The manufacturer has not put any specs online. In addition to the format and presumably the sound, the physical connection also differs. The larger Home has a USB-c port, the smaller Home Mini has an older micro-USB connection.
