Samsung Display shows a concept of a double folding OLED screen that when folded is a smartphone screen, or unfolded a 7.2″ tablet screen. In addition, the company shows a single fold screen that can be a tablet screen or monitor.

The S-Foldable screen has two folds that both fold in different directions. Two of the three screen parts are apparently the same size, the third screen part is half the size of the other two screen parts. The screen parts can be folded on top of each other, whereby one of the two larger screen parts serves as a smartphone screen.

In the foldable concept that Samsung Display shows, there is room for a camera island on the left side of the smartphone screen part. Completely unfolded, the OLED screen can be used as a 7.2 “tablet. The screen division of the electronics giant already showed a teaser of the S-Foldable; according to rumors, Samsung itself is working on a smartphone with such a screen.

The 17″ screen has no name yet and has one fold. When folded, this product is a screen ‘that resembles a tablet screen’ with an aspect ratio of 4:3. When unfolded, the product is a 17″ monitor according to Samsung Display. Samsung Display thinks that this screen can be used as a mobile monitor.

Furthermore, Samsung Display shows an image of a Slidable screen, where the smartphone can slide out on the right side in portrait position to make the screen slightly wider. The company also shows a laptop screen with a camera behind the OLED panel, so that thinner bezels are possible. Samsung Display previously showed this screen with the Blade Bezel.

Samsung Display does not provide any further details such as resolutions, dimensions or aspect ratios, in addition to the specifications mentioned. The company will show the panels this week at the digital Display Week 2021 trade show. Samsung Display may then share more information about the screens.
