Samsung shows concept of pocket watch based on Gear S3 smartwatch

Samsung has shown a concept of a pocket watch with the hardware of the Gear S3 in it. In addition to a touchscreen of the Gear S3, the pocket watch also contains an analog clock and a compass. It is a project by designer Yvan Arpa.

Samsung is showing the pocket watch and two other concepts from Arpa at the Baselworld 2017 watch fair, which is currently taking place in Switzerland. The manufacturer does not seem to have any plans to put the pocket watch on the market as a product.

For the project, Arpa took the case from a traditional pocket watch and replaced the inside for the Gear S3’s hardware. An analog compass and analog clock are also on the pocket watch to give it some classic elements.

In addition to the pocket watch, Arpa has made a variant of the Gear S3 in which the designer has redesigned the bezel and housing of the watch. A third variant shows the Gear S3, but with an analog clock in it. Samsung released the Gear S3 last fall.
