Samsung seems to be coming with 2TB version of 970 Pro
There are indications that Samsung will release a 2TB version of the 970 Pro SSD. Until now, the maximum storage of that series was 1TB, while the 960 Pro series did have a 2TB version.
The description of Samsung’s 970 Pro page contains the text ‘970 Pro Series 512GB – 2TB’, noted tweaker Balder©. That page itself still only shows the 512GB and 1TB versions. Samsung announced the 970 Pro with those capabilities last year. A 2TB version of the 970 Pro is now available at a few Asian web stores as well as at Compuram, but not yet available.
It is not known when Samsung will officially announce the SSD. The manufacturer will probably build the SSD from its 64-layer mlc v-nand, with Phoenix controller and 2GB lpddr4. A 2TB version of the slower 960 Pro with also lower endurance has already appeared, and there is already such a model of the 970 Evo, which Samsung announced at the same time as the 970 Pro. The 970 Evo also performs less and has a lower total bytes written than the Pro, because it is built from tlc instead of mlc.
The price of the possible 970 Pro of 2TB is unknown, but the suggested retail price of the 970 Pro 1TB was 600 euros at the time of publication and that of the 970 Evo 2TB 940 euros.
