Samsung responds to accusations that batteries of Galaxy S7 phones catch fire

Samsung has responded to allegations that in addition to the Note 7, the S7 and S7 edge also have batteries that catch fire. According to the manufacturer, there is nothing wrong and recent incidents are due to external factors.

Samsung has posted the statement on its own site and the manufacturer leaves the option open that there is something wrong with the batteries in the S7 series, because it does not yet own an exploded copy. “Until Samsung owns and investigates a device, it is impossible to determine the exact cause,” the company wrote.

It is not obvious that the S7 phones suffer from the same battery problem as the Note 7. The S7 series has been on sale for much longer and the manufacturer has also sold a lot more of them, so there should have been many more incidents .

The first set of incidents involving the Note 7s happened when the phone was just starting to go on sale in a few countries. If there is something wrong with the batteries, it would be a fiasco for Samsung. The S7 and S7 edge are the only two high-end phones this year that the South Korean manufacturer is selling.

Several incidents were reported last week, including an S7 edge that caught fire in the pocket of a student at a Kansas school. The school has confirmed the incident, the KMBC site reported last week. No one was injured.
