Samsung releases high-end flip phone with two OLED screens in China
Samsung has released a high-end flip phone in China. The Samsung SM-G9298 is equipped with two 4.2″ OLED screens. It is unknown whether Samsung will sell the phone outside of China, but the device will probably not come to the Benelux.
The Android phone, which is called Leader 8 according to an English translation, has a so-called clamshell design and has a 4.2 “touch screen on the outside of the phone and another screen on the inside. The OLED screens have a Full HD resolution.The screen on the outside has capacitive menu buttons, while the inside uses hardware buttons.The frame of the phone is made of 6013 Series aluminum, which Samsung also used for the Samsung Galaxy S6.
The device contains a Snapdragon 821-soc from Qualcomm and has 4GB of RAM. 64GB of storage is available and can be expanded with an SD card. Furthermore, the Leader 8 has a battery capacity of 2300mAh and there is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, below the camera. The battery can be charged wirelessly.
The Leader 8 has a 12-megapixel camera on the back with an f/1.7 aperture and 1.4 pixelsm pixels. This makes the specifications equal to those of the camera in the Galaxy S8. On the inside of the flip phone is a camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and a 5-megapixel resolution.
Samsung has not yet announced whether the company will offer the phone outside of China. Currently, the flip phone is only available through provider China Mobile. The Leader 8 will probably not come to the Benelux. Samsung does offer such Android folding phones in Asia, but not in European countries.
