Samsung releases Galaxy W smartphone with 7″ screen
Samsung officially announced the Galaxy W for the South Korean market on Monday. The Galaxy W is especially notable for its 7 “screen. This makes the smartphone larger than the Galaxy Mega, which has a 6.3 “screen.
Earlier there were rumors that Samsung was going to release a ‘smartphone’ with a 7” screen for the Asian market. The screen of the Galaxy W has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, Samsung announces. Most 7″ devices come as tablets, but the Galaxy W has the ability to make calls and the device offers SMS support.
The phone has a similar design to the Galaxy Note 3 and offers lte-a support. Under the hood, the Galaxy W has an unspecified quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 1.5 GB of ram and 16 GB of internal storage. The device also has an 8-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The internal memory can be expanded with a micro-SD card and the battery has a capacity of 3200mAh.
Furthermore, the Galaxy W runs on Android 4.3 and it is available in black, white and red for a price of 499,000 South Korean Won, converted about 350 euros. With the Samsung Galaxy W, Samsung further blurs the line between tablet and smartphone. Asus did the same last year with its Fonepad with 7″ screen.
