Samsung releases compact USB-C sticks with capacity up to 256GB
Samsung is releasing three USB-C sticks with capacities of 64, 128 and 256GB. The read and write speed of the largest model is 400 and 110MB/s. With the smaller models, especially the writing speed is lower. The USB-C sticks are for sale from about 15 euros.
The USB-C sticks have dimensions of 33.7×15.9×6.4mm and weigh 3.4 grams according to the manufacturer. The memory sticks are compact because they only have a USB-C connection. This concerns a USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection, with a bandwidth of 5Gbit/s.
According to Samsung, the versions of 128 and 256GB have read speeds of 400MB/s. The 64GB variant has to make do with a read speed of 300MB/s. There is more difference in the write speeds; the largest version reaches 110MB/s, the smaller versions of 128 and 64GB reach 60 and 30MB/s.
At the time of writing, the USB-C sticks are for sale at a web store in the Pricewatch for about 15, 24 and 44 euros. That is comparable to the Samsung Duo Plus variants, which are equipped with both a USB-A and a USB-C connection.
