Samsung is releasing a browser for use in combination with the Samsung Gear VR. The app will be called Samsung Internet for Gear VR and should offer users of the VR glasses the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in a virtual environment while browsing.

A beta version of Samsung Internet for Gear VR will be available on the Oculus Store on December 2. The app works in combination with all variants of the Galaxy S6, the Note 4 and Note5. According to Samsung, the special browser supports 360-degree and 3D videos and all HTML5 videos on the web can also be viewed in a virtual environment.

Text can be entered with voice recognition, but there is also a keyboard in the vr browser. Furthermore, the browser includes a ‘Gaze Mode’, in which users can select menus simply by staring at them. Samsung also promises a ‘trusted’ browsing experience thanks to the presence of bookmarks and a tab manager.

Samsung released its second version of the Gear VR in November. The headset, which has a suggested retail price of 99.99 euros, works in combination with the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5.
