Samsung releases 49-inch 240Hz Odyssey gaming monitors
Samsung will release its first monitors in the Odyssey series during the CES fair. This includes a ‘curved’ qled monitor of 49 inches with a refresh rate of 240Hz. There are also two smaller displays of 27 and 32 inches in size with lower resolutions.
They are Samsung’s first monitors under the Odyssey brand. The most notable monitor is the G9. It is 49 inches tall and curved. The device has a dqhd resolution of 5120×1440 pixels and a ratio of 32:9. The refresh rate is 240Hz, and the response time is 1ms. The maximum screen brightness is 1000cd/m². The monitor is bent at a curvature of 1000R. Samsung also releases a cheaper monitor with a slightly less good display. The Odyssey G7 has the same curvature and the same refresh rate of 240Hz, but comes in 27 and 32 inch versions. The resolution of those screens is a lot lower at 2560×1440 and a ratio of 16:9. The brightness is also lower at 600cd/m².
All new monitors support both AMD’s FreeSync 2 and Nvidia’s G-Sync. Prices of the monitors are not yet known. Samsung does say that the devices will be released in the second quarter of this year.
