Samsung no longer guarantees updates for Galaxy S6 Edge+
Samsung no longer guarantees that future security updates will be released for the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The S6 Edge+ has disappeared from the list of supported devices along with the Galaxy Note 5. The S6 and S6 Edge disappeared from that list earlier this year.
The list recently showed the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5, but that is now gone. The fact that the S6 Edge+ is no longer guaranteed to receive updates does not mean that support will end permanently. The Galaxy S6 received the June security update, GalaxyClub notes.
It seems that Samsung has stretched the warranty for high-end smartphones to three years and then releases security updates on an irregular basis. It is unknown for which models and when that will happen. The Galaxy S6 came out in March 2015, the S6 Edge+ followed in August of that year.
For smartphones other than the Galaxy S and Note models, Samsung guarantees support for two years. This only concerns security updates and not upgrades of the operating system to a new version.
