Samsung makes variant of Odyssey G9 monitor with mini LED backlight
Samsung will release a variant of its Odyssey G9 gaming monitor with a miniled backlight this year. Just like last year, it is a 49 “monitor with a 32: 9 ratio and a curvature of 1000R.
In a presentation on YouTube about its new line-up of televisions and monitors for 2021 , Samsung mentions the arrival of an Odyssey G9 with Quantum Matrix Technology. The manufacturer hangs that name from a panel that uses mini LEDs as a backlight. It is not yet known exactly how many LEDs and zones the monitor will get. Samsung has not disclosed any further specifications.
Samsung also shows the arrival of new Odyssey G7, G5, and G3 models with a flat-screen. The Odyssey G7 and G5 already exist, but with a curved screen panel. The Odyssey G3 is a completely new model. When the new Odyssey game monitors will be released and what they will cost is not yet clear.
The G9 in particular is a striking monitor. The top model from Samsung has a 49 “panel with a resolution of 5120×1440 pixels, a refresh rate of 240Hz and a curvature of 1000R and a VESA DisplayHDR1000 certification. This combination of features cannot be found at any other manufacturer.
