Samsung lowers prices S6 and S6 Edge by 100 and 150 euros

Samsung has lowered the prices of its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. This is apparent from the manufacturer’s online shop. The price of the S6 is 100 euros, while the S6 Edge has become 150 euros cheaper.

Samsung now asks 599 euros for the cheapest 32GB variant of the Galaxy S6, while the Edge version has gone from 849 euros to 699 euros. The price drop comes as no surprise. At the presentation of the quarterly figures, the manufacturer already said it would ‘adjust’ the price, but until now it was unknown how much that reduction would be.

In addition to declining sales, one of the reasons for the price reduction could be that Samsung is about to release new high-end devices. The manufacturer has sent out an invitation to an event next week, where it will likely showcase the Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus. If the S6 Edge had cost 849 euros, the price of those two devices should have been at least the same.

The reduction in prices is something that consumers probably don’t notice much about. Many web stores already offered the devices for less money, while last month, thanks to a cashback promotion, 100 euros were deducted from the price of the phones. As a result, the S6 was already available under 550 euros.
