“Samsung is working on Chrome OS convertible with relatively good camera sensor”
According to the website Chrome Unboxed, Samsung is coming with a convertible that runs on Chrome OS and has a Sony IMX258 camera sensor. That is the same sensor that is in the LG G6 smartphone. Most Chromebooks are not known for good camera sensors.
According to the website Chrome Unboxed, code on Chromium Repositories indicates that Samsung is the maker of a tablet codenamed Nautilus. Besides the notification that the device will receive an IMX258 camera sensor from Sony, there is little other information to be gained from the notification regarding the specifications. Other devices with the 13-megapixel sensor are the OnePlus X, the Sony Xperia XA and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
Because it is a convertible, the Nautilus tablet will probably have a screen diagonal of 12″ or smaller. It is also unclear whether the camera sensor will be used on the front or back. The software in Chrome OS will probably need to be improved to to get the most out of the IMX258 camera sensor.
Samsung has not yet confirmed the existence of the convertible. There is a possibility that the manufacturer will present the convertible during the upcoming CES electronics fair in Las Vegas. Samsung’s most recent Chromebook is the Chromebook Pro. That is a 12.3 “convertible with a folding screen, which has a 720p camera. That model has not appeared in the Benelux.
