Samsung is working on a monitor stand that adjusts position to improve posture
Samsung’s C-Lab is working on a motorized monitor stand with built-in sensors that adjusts the position to the user’s posture. The movement of the monitor encourages the user to sit up straight.
The Girin Monitor Stand automatically adjusts the position of the screen if the user’s body position is not optimal. According to Samsung, the movement of the monitor is subtle, allowing users to change their posture in a natural way. Adjusting the position of the monitor would also train users to adopt better posture.
The Girin Monitor Stand is one of eight new C-Lab projects that Samsung will show at the CES trade fair in January. Experimental projects of start-ups are housed at Samsung’s C-Lab. It is not yet known whether and when Samsung will actually release the Girin standard.
Samsung’s C-Lab will also show projects such as Tisplay, for displaying virtual advertisements on clothing during live streams, and ‘alight’, a desk lamp that adjusts the light to the user’s actions. Another new project is aiMo, which consists of a smartphone case that mimics human ears. That should make it possible to record asmr sounds.
