Samsung is releasing a drop-resistant 8 “tablet for 489 euros

Samsung is releasing the Galaxy Tab Active3, an 8 “water-resistant Android tablet with a cover that also makes the device drop resistant. The tablet has a removable battery and gets four years of security updates.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 has an 8 “LCD with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The tablet contains an Exynos 9810-soc, 4GB ram and 64 or 128GB flash storage. The memory can be expanded with a microSD card and the tablet optionally has a 4G modem and space for a SIM card.The price of 489 euros is probably for the 64GB version without 4G.

Samsung supplies the tablet with a cover, which makes the Tab Active3 resistant to falls from a height of up to one and a half meters, according to the manufacturer. The tablet is water and dust proof according to the IP68 specification. This means that the device can be submerged for up to thirty minutes to a depth of 1.5 meters. The sleeve also has room for an S Pen stylus.

The tablet has dimensions of 126.8×213.8×9.9mm and weighs about 430 grams. The 5050mAh battery can be changed by the user, according to Samsung. The device has a USB-C connection and also a Pogo pin connector. Both can be used to charge the tablet.

Samsung is aiming for the business market with the Galaxy Tab Active3. The device is available as a so-called Enterprise Edition. In addition, Samsung guarantees that the tablet will be available on the market for two years and that security updates will be released for four years. The manufacturer does not guarantee Android upgrades. The tablet comes with Android 10.
