Market leader Samsung will provide midrange smartphones with 5G support later this year. That says the manufacturer in an explanation of its quarterly figures. A foldable smartphone is also coming and the manufacturer says it is working on new Note phones.

It concerns 5g in the ‘mass market line-up’, says a Samsung CEO in an explanation of the quarterly figures. That is the segment under the S series of phones, so presumably the more expensive models of the A series. Last year, the A90 already came out in a 5g variant.

The phones will have large screens, more than one camera, high-resolution front cameras and a high-capacity battery. This will allow customers to take full advantage of the multimedia and new social networking experiences that are coming with 5G.

Samsung has put 5g in all its S20 models this year, although a 4g model of the S20 has also appeared in the Benelux. Samsung previously published its quarterly figures. Vodafone and Proximus have put 5g live in the Benelux on existing frequencies, other providers will probably follow later this year.
