Samsung is promising three OS upgrades for expensive phones from Galaxy S10
Samsung promises to give its expensive phones three OS upgrades from the Galaxy S10. Until now there were a maximum of two. According to Samsung, this step is necessary because people want to use their phones for longer.
In addition, using phones for longer is good for the environment, Samsung claimed during the presentation of the Note 20 on Wednesday afternoon. Samsung has been guaranteeing security updates for its phones for more than three years, but so far has discontinued support after two OS upgrades.
Since the Note 20 comes with Android 10, it would get upgrades to Android 11, 12 and 13, XDA-Developers notes. This makes the support the same as with Google’s Pixel phones, although upgrades for Galaxy phones often come a few months to six months after the new Android version is released.
The version upgrades bring new features, but add little in terms of security. Thanks to individual app updates, Google Play System updates and security updates, patches for leaks will also be available for phones with previous Android versions at the same time.
