Samsung is bringing cloud gaming to televisions and monitors from 2022 via Gaming Hub
Samsung has released its Gaming Hub for smart TVs and monitors from 2022. This will enable these devices to stream games directly through Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia, Utomik and later Amazon Luna.
The Gaming Hub runs on Samsung’s own Tizen operating system and offers passthrough support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. There is also support for Bluetooth headsets, eliminating the need to buy separate hardware. In addition to the above services, Gaming Hub also makes it possible to use apps from music and streaming services.
For the time being, the Gaming Hub will only come to televisions and monitors that Samsung released in 2022. Those devices can according to the company decode incoming streams faster through better hardware. The supported devices contain optimized buffer technology, according to the South Korean manufacturer, which allowed the input lag to be reduced by 30 percent compared to older models. The company promises an incoming stream in 4k or 8k resolution using AI upscaling.
The updated Gaming Hub will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, South Korea and Brazil. It is not clear whether or when it will be the turn of the Benelux. At the beginning of this year, Samsung stated that it also has plans to bring the Gaming Hub to earlier TV models.
