Samsung introduces new Gear VR to Galaxy Note 7

At the same time as the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has presented a new version of the Gear VR. The new Gear VR includes a USB-C connection and other lenses for a wider viewing angle.

Since the Galaxy Note 7 is the first Samsung smartphone with a USB-c connection and the previous version of the Gear VR has a micro-USB connection, it was expected that Samsung would come up with new VR glasses. Half a million copies of the previous version have been sold in Europe.

When wearing the new Gear VR, you will suffer less from light pollution, according to Samsung. With the white Gear VR, the light reflected off the white housing inside, but because the color black was chosen for the new Gear VR, that problem should be solved. In addition, the button can be locked with a slider, there is a new home button and the touch-sensitive d-pad is now smoothed.

Possibly the biggest improvement to the VR experience itself is the wider viewing angle, which is achieved by the larger lenses. The screen is thus brought closer, so that you should be even more immersed in the virtual world. The glasses would also be more comfortable to wear, due to the thicker foam rim on the inside.

Despite the fact that the new Gear VR has a USB-C connection, the connector can be exchanged for a micro-USB copy. As a result, the new VR glasses can also be used with the Note 5, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7 and S7 edge.
