Samsung introduces microLED TVs from 50″ and S95C TVs with QD OLED panel

Samsung will introduce microLED televisions from 50 to 140″ with refresh rates of 240Hz in 2023. The company will announce this during CES in Las Vegas. The company will also show its S95C-QD OLED televisions and new miniLED models in the Neo QLED series for the first time .

Samsung is coming this year with Micro LED CX TVs in 50″, 63″, 76″, 89″, 101″, 114″ and 140″. The Micro LED CX models get according to Digital Trends a refresh rate of 240Hz and an advertised response time of ‘2 nanoseconds’. Samsung doesn’t mention a resolution, but the company’s current microLED generation offers 4k panels.

MicroLED TVs have individual LEDs for each pixel. As a result, no backlight is needed, because each pixel generates its own light, just like with an OLED television, for example. Pixels can also be switched off individually and achieve a high brightness. The company is not yet sharing pricing or availability details for the Micro LED CX series. The company’s previous 89-inch microLED TV cost a minimum of $80,000.

S95C-QD OLEDs up to 77″ and with OneConnect box

Samsung is also showing its new S95C televisions for the first time. These TVs have a QD OLED panel, just like the current S95B. This generation is the first time Samsung introduces a 77″ variant, which will be available in addition to the existing sizes of 55″ and 65″. The manufacturer says that the screen should offer higher brightness and better color reproduction, but does not elaborate on that. .

Samsung Display previously announced that the company’s new QD OLED panels will be available in more sizes and achieve a claimed brightness of 2000cd/m². The S95C televisions also get a higher refresh rate of 144Hz and a variable refresh rate with AMD FreeSync Premium pro certification.

The S95C series also gets a new 70W speaker system with 4.2.2 setup, with a number of speakers below that are directed upwards for Dolby Atmos surround sound. According to Tom’s Guide the TV also gets a separate OneConnect box, which contains the HDMI connections and other connectivity for better cable management. Samsung already supplied such devices with its mini LED TVs, but did not do so with its QD OLED models last year. The company is not yet sharing details about the pricing and release date of the S95C.

Mini LED TVs with higher brightness

Samsung is also renewing its Neo QLED series of mini LED TVs. The QN900C gets an 8k panel with mini LED backlight that, according to Samsung, achieves peak brightnesses of up to 4000cd/m² with more than 1000 zones for full-array local dimming. These new Neo QLED 8k televisions will also be available in new 98″ variants, in addition to the existing sizes

The QN95C will be the flagship 4k model of the company and this time it will have all connections on the back instead of a OneConnect box, writes Digital Trends. In addition, that screen also gets higher brightness, improved dimming and better grayscale control. The screen edges must be less than 20mm thick. The QN900C also gets Dolby Atmos speakers.

The televisions also get an Auto HDR Remastering function that can add HDR to SDR content. Samsung’s new products also receive a chip with support for smart home standards Matter and Zigbee via Samsung SmartThings. Samsung is also not yet sharing details about prices and availability for the miniLED models.
