Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 smartphone will be unveiled at the end of February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. That’s what the director of Samsung’s mobile division, Koh Dong-jin, told ZDNet during the CES.

Koh didn’t mention a specific date, however, leaving it only known that the unveiling will take place sometime between February 26 and March 1. At the end of November, Evleaks reported that Samsung would show the smartphone for the first time during CES, but that is now more than a month later.

Last year, Samsung unveiled its predecessor, the Galaxy S8, at an event in March, after which sales began in April. If there is now another month between the introduction and the start of sales of the S9, the device will go on sale for the first time somewhere in March.

The design of the Galaxy S9 and S9 + would be almost identical to that of the S8 and S8 + according to previous reports. The smartphones will reportedly get stereo speakers and keep the 3.5mm jack. The fingerprint scanner is probably right under the camera, where it is still next to the camera with the Galaxy S8.

The Samsung executive also reported that the company plans to introduce a foldable phone sometime in 2019. Last year, he said that the introduction would take place in 2018. This may be a smartphone with a 7.3″ screen that can be folded inwards, so that it can be used as a telephone and as a tablet.
