Samsung introduces Galaxy A80 with rotating camera for 649 euros
Samsung has added three smartphones to its updated A-series of Galaxy devices. In addition to the A20e and A40, this is the A80, a 6.7-inch smartphone with a retractable and rotating camera module.
The upper part of the back of the Galaxy A80 slides up so that the camera module can be directed forwards or backwards, depending on the orientation of the camera app. The module thus serves as either a front or rear camera. Three sensors are incorporated in the module. In addition to the 48-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 3D depth sensor.
Because there is no fixed front camera, the 6.7″ screen has no notch or hole for the camera. The screen is of the AMOLED type with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the screen. The processor is a octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon SM7150 with a clock speed of 2.2GHz for two powerful cores and 1.7GHz for six less powerful cores.Samsung provides the device with 8GB ram and 128GB storage that cannot be expanded with micro-SD cards.
The Galaxy A80 has a battery capacity of 3700mAh and supports fast charging. The manufacturer will release the device in mid-May for 649 euros. The A80 will be available in black, white and gold. Samsung has simultaneously announced the arrival of the entry-level device A20e and A40. The latter is a 5.9″ smartphone with Samsung Exynos 7885-soc and was already available. The Galaxy A20e will arrive at the end of this month for a suggested retail price of 179 euros. Previously, the Galaxy J series was the line of entry-level smartphones from Samsung, but this has merged into the A-series.
