Samsung introduces curved 27″ monitor
Samsung has announced a curved 27″ monitor. The S27D590C delivers full HD resolution and offers a better ‘entertainment experience’ with its curved design. The manufacturer has also announced the UD970 monitor, a 31.5″ monitor with a UHD resolution.
The VA panel of the S27D590C offers a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and has a regular 16:9 aspect ratio. According to Samsung, the response time is 4ms, while the brightness is specified at 350cd/m². The contrast ratio would be 3000:1.
The curved design promises an “enhanced entertainment experience” with its ‘3D effect’, according to Samsung. The monitor has a game mode in which, according to the manufacturer, blurred images are corrected and the color reproduction is improved. The monitor also contains two 5W speakers. Samsung does not report which connections the monitor has. In the US, the monitor should cost approximately USD 450, which is approximately EUR 350 converted.
Samsung has also announced a new monitor for the professional market: the UD970 with a screen diameter of 31.5″. The monitor offers the 4k resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. According to Samsung, the UD970 can display 99 percent of the AdobeRGB color gamut and supports it. 10bit color depth, the manufacturer also promises an “excellent factory calibration”.
The user can choose from eight different color modes, whereby two color modes can be placed next to each other in the ‘dual color mode’. The monitor offers a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The Samsung UD970 monitor is available from October with a suggested retail price of 2199 euros.
