Samsung introduces 43 “monitor with Tizen OS and integrated WiFi

Samsung is introducing new monitors in its Smart Monitor line-up. The company comes with a 43 “monitor with 4K resolution, and a 24” variant with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The monitors use Samsung’s Tizen OS and have integrated Wi-Fi 5.

The new models complement Samsung’s current Smart Monitor models, the company reports in a press release. The Samsung M70A 43 “has a VA panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. According to Samsung, the M7 supports HDR10, but with a brightness of 300cd / m², the monitor is not eligible for DisplayHDR certification.

Samsung mentions an advertised GTG response time of 8ms and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The monitor also has a USB-C connector that power delivery supports up to 65W. A product page of the Samsung M50A 24 “is not yet online at the time of writing.

Both monitors use Tizen OS, the operating system that is also used for Samsung smart televisions. Samsung entered into a partnership with Google earlier this month, with which it merged the wearable variant of Tizen OS with Android Wear. However, the Tizen OS variant for televisions remains in use.

By using this operating system, users can install apps on their monitor, for example from streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, Prime Video or Disney +. The monitors have also integrated support for DeX, which allows users to connect their smartphone and use it as a desktop PC. The screens also support AirPlay 2.

The 43 “variant will also get a remote control that is charged via solar energy. Samsung introduced such remotes in January at CES in Las Vegas. Users can also charge the remote control via USB-C. The remote control of the 24” variant is not rechargeable via solar energy. The remote controls of both models do support Alexa, Bixby, and the Google Assistant. Samsung introduced its first three screens in its Smart Monitor line-up last year.
