Samsung is protesting the compensation of 120 million dollars, converted 86 million euros, that the company has to pay to Apple for patent infringements. According to Samsung, Apple’s profit in the case is “not based on evidence”.

Samsung has lodged a protest with the judge in the case and will appeal if it deems necessary, writes the financial news agency Bloomberg based on a statement from a Samsung lawyer. Last Friday, a jury ruled that Samsung had to pay Apple 120 million dollars, or 86 million euros, for patent infringement. That was much less than the 2.2 billion dollars that Apple had demanded from Samsung, but nevertheless Samsung is not satisfied. According to the company, Apple’s patent claims are “not based on evidence.”

On Monday, the jury reconvened in the case; a member of the jury then suggested that Apple should not have gone after Samsung but after Google for the patent infringements. Incidentally, the jury also ruled that Apple itself infringes on patents. Apple has to pay much less to Samsung: 158,000 dollars. Apple and Samsung have been engaged in a patent war for years.
