‘Samsung Galaxy S9 camera gets variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4’
An image has appeared on the internet of what the packaging of the Galaxy S9 would be, with some specifications of the device. The smartphone appears to have a super slow motion option for video and the camera may have a variable aperture.
The packaging states that the Galaxy S9 has a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP OIS camera with f/1.5/f/2.4. Those specifications correspond to those of the camera of the Samsung W2018 flipphone, which only came out in China. The aperture of that device switches mechanically between f/1.5 and f/2.4, depending on the lighting conditions.
The box also mentions a super-slow-motion option, which indicates that the device can shoot images at perhaps 1000fps for slow-motion playback. The front camera is an 8-megapixel model.
The device will have a 5.8″ screen with amoled panel and quad hd+ resolution of 2960×1440 pixels, just like the Galaxy S8. The model of the box is said to contain 4GB of ram and 64GB of storage memory. In addition, the stereo speakers and headphones are tuned by Samsung’s subsidiary. AKG and there’s an iris scanner, plus support for wireless charging.
It is not known whether the packaging is authentic. There were indications that Samsung would show the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to a selected audience at the beginning of January during CES. During that trade show, Samsung only said publicly that the official unveiling will take place in February.
