Samsung expands Smart Home portfolio with new products
Just before the start of the IFA show, Samsung announced that it will expand its Smart Home product line, intended for the growing home automation market. The manufacturer also promises to come with an SDK.
On a Samsung blog, the company shows as a preview some photos of a television, an air conditioner and a smart energy management system that fall under the Smart Home line. A robot vacuum cleaner can also be seen. The devices could be controlled via a smartwatch as well as an Android mobile phone, among other things by giving voice commands to the S Voice app. Samsung wants to announce more details about its products during the IFA fair, which starts this week.
Samsung also promises to release an SDK for its Smart Home products, so that other parties can release products based on its home automation standard. The SDK should be available later this year.
The Smart Home platform was announced at CES early this year. In April, the company released an Android and Tizen application for its home automation line. The apps allow users to control and program Samsung’s home appliances.
