Samsung Display has started the mass production of OLED panels with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz for use in laptops. These are the panels ASUS and Lenovo use for recently announced laptops with OLED screens.

The announced start of mass production of the 90Hz OLED panels by Samsung Display means that laptop manufacturers can use them for their products. At least ASUS does that with its Vivobook Pro 14X and Pro 14 and with the ZenBook 14X OLED, which have 14″ screens with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz.

Samsung Display does not report any specifications of the panels, but ASUS’ announcement shows that the 14″ panels offer a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. In addition, the panels have a maximum brightness of 400cd/m². Those are the specifications of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon that should be released in October.

It is still unknown which other manufacturers will release laptops with the 90Hz OLED panels. Dell, HP and Samsung themselves have also previously brought laptops with OLED screens on the market.
