Samsung confirms in complaint against Oura that Galaxy Ring will be released in August
Samsung has confirmed in a complaint against ring maker Oura that its own Galaxy Ring will be released in or around August, at least in the United States. It has been clear for some time that the Galaxy Ring would be released before the end of the year.

The complaint states that mass production will begin within weeks. The complaint also states that Samsung will give users an 'energy score' in the Health app based on factors such as heart rate and sleep, estimating how rested they are. That is a function that is included in several smart rings.

With this step, Samsung wants to avoid charges from Oura against Samsung. The South Korean manufacturer reasons that Oura has filed charges in recent years against every maker of a new smart ring based on patents that, according to Samsung, describe generic elements of smart rings, such as the integration of sensors and the calculation of scores based on data from a ring. Oura claims that it invented those elements and that other companies must therefore pay Oura to use them.
The South Korean manufacturer said months ago that it would release the Galaxy Ring. This gadget, with the functionality of a fitness tracker without a screen, should be released later this year and should have a battery life of several days to a week and track heart rate and steps, among other things.
