Samsung’s top boss, Lee Kun-hee, has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack. Doctors say his condition is stable. It is unclear whether Samsung will be led by someone else in the near future.

Several media reported this, including The Wall Street Journal. Lee Kun-hee was admitted to a hospital in Seoul on Saturday after breathing difficulties, something he has struggled with for some time after a history of pneumonia and lung cancer. According to the doctors, the CEO had a heart attack. Despite this, his situation is said to be stable. No statements were made about the CEO’s prospects.

The Samsung CEO’s health concerns raise questions about who will lead the company in the near future. Lee Kun-hee’s son may step in, temporarily or otherwise, to take over. Earlier there were rumors that Samsung had made preparations to let the son of Lee Kun-hee take over the management of the company in the long term.

Lee Kun-hee himself became CEO of Samsung in 1987, after the death of his father who founded the Samsung group of companies. Under the leadership of Lee Kun-hee, Samsung became a major player in the electronics market, including smartphones and tablets.
