Samsung CEO JH Han has apologized for the performance-limiting measures that the South Korean manufacturer has built into its Galaxy S22 devices. Han says Samsung has “misunderstood customers’ concerns about app and game performance.”

Since early March, several Galaxy users say that the Game Optimization Service software would limit the performance of apps and games on S22 devices, among others. The software is also on S21, S20 and S10 devices. According to Samsung, the throttling of apps is necessary, among other things, to prevent overheating during prolonged gaming on the phones.

The CEO apologized during a meeting with shareholders of the company, writes SamMobile, among others. Han says the CIS should improve the performance of smartphones. He went on to say that Samsung “has misunderstood customers’ concerns about app and game performance.”

Samsung is working on a firmware update for S22 phones that should give users more control over built-in performance limitations. The update will first be tested in South Korea. It is not yet known when it will be rolled out worldwide. In addition, it is not clear whether users of S21, S20 and S10 devices can expect a similar firmware update.
