The Galaxy Smart Tag trackers were spotted in an apk file of the Samsung SmartThings app, 91mobiles reports. This shows that the trackers have a square design with rounded corners, similar to the design of Tile trackers. The operation would also be comparable to that of other bluetooth trackers. The Galaxy Tag trackers also have a button in the middle. Users could press the button to trigger an alarm on a connected smartphone.

Via the same smartphone, users can also activate the built-in speaker of a Smart Tag, making it easier for them to find the object to which the tracker is attached. The Galaxy Smart Tag also has a cord hole, with which the tracker can be attached to a key ring or bag, for example.

The Galaxy Smart Tags already appeared at various inspection services, SamMobile writes. It turned out that the trackers use a cr2032 battery and support Bluetooth 5.1 Low Energy. 91mobiles reports that the trackers in Europe must cost 15 euros each. The website writes that the Galaxy Smart Tags will be announced at the same time as the Galaxy S21 smartphones. Those phones are rumored to be launched on January 14.

Samsung isn’t the only smartphone manufacturer that seems to be working on bluetooth trackers. In addition to current manufacturers such as Tile, Apple would also be working on its own trackers. Rumors have been circulating about such Apple AirTags for some time, although it is not yet clear when the company will release these trackers.
