Samsung announces self-repair service in the US for phone and tablets
Samsung announced a new service in the US on Thursday, where customers can request parts, tools and manuals. This allows them to repair their tablet and phone themselves.
Samsung has set up the service together with repair company iFixit. The service will be available for Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 series smartphones and for Galaxy Tab S7+ tablets. The South Korean tech company wants add more devices and parts to the repair program over time.
Customers can get repair parts and manuals for displays and charging ports, among other things. It is not yet known how much these products will cost. As part of the program, it will also be possible to return broken parts to Samsung for ‘responsible recycling’.
The service will be available in the United States this summer. It is not clear when and whether the service will be available in the Benelux.
