Samsung has announced its first tablet with 5G. It is a variant of the existing Galaxy Tab S6, but equipped with Qualcomm X50 modem. There have been rumors about the release of the tablet for months.

The first tablet with 5G will be released in South Korea on Thursday, Samsung says. For the time being, nothing is known about a release of the tablet outside Samsung’s home country. The tablet has a Qualcomm X50 modem, instead of the X24 modem of the 4g version of the Tab S6. The other specifications are the same. The configuration has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS storage.

Samsung had already confirmed the arrival of the tablet on its own site. That happened last month. It is the first tablet with a 5g modem. Until now, only smartphones with 5G appeared from various brands, including Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus and LG.

The reason for the release in South Korea is presumably because many carrier customers already have a 5g connection. South Korean carriers have been offering 5g since last spring and have reportedly already sold several million subscriptions with 5g. There are no 5G networks live in the Benelux yet.
