Sabrent announces 8TB m2 SSD
The American technology manufacturer Sabrent has put an 8TB model in its Rocket Q line of m2 SSDs online. It appears to be the first consumer SSD with an 8TB m2 form factor.
The Rocket Q 8TB, with product designation SB-RKTQ-8TB, is a PCI-E 3.0 x4 SSD with nvme and m2 2280 form factor. The SSD is built around qlc nandflash memory and uses a Phison E12S. It appears to be the first consumer m2 SSD with 8TB storage. Last December, AnandTech reported that the 4TB SSD in Sabrent’s Rocket Q line was the first consumer SSD with that amount of storage.
Sabrent does not yet provide details about, for example, speeds for random writing and reading, and it is also unknown when the SSD will become available and what it will cost. The 4TB SSD in the Rocket Q line has a suggested retail price of $760. It offers advertised sequential read speeds of 3.4GB/s and write speeds of 3GB/s and also features Phison’s E12S controller.
